Upcoming Sunday Service at 11:00 AM:

Miracles Among Us

by James Moore

Religious texts from around the world describe miraculous acts of God or gods taking place in eras long ago. But what about today? Where are the miracles of yore? Perhaps the events taking place around us every day are more miraculous than we think. As Peter Mayer sings in Holy Now, "When I was in Sunday school, we would learn about the time Moses split the sea in two, Jesus made the water wine. And I remember feeling sad, miracles don't happen still, but now I can't keep track cause everything's a miracle."

If you're unable to join us in person, Zoom is still an option by clicking HERE.

Stewardship Blog: Keeping Alisha

by James Moore on 4/6/2024

I had already been to the congregation many years earlier while I was in Huntsville when it was in a different location with a different name, but even back then, I had felt very welcome and at home with the community there. As a new member, my biggest concern for the future is whether Tapestry will be able to keep our wonderful minister, Rev. Alisha, due to budget concerns. With pledges for next fiscal year below the necessary level to continue employing Rev. Alisha, I fear that our congregation may lose her without additional financial support. Because of that concern, I have decided to increase my pledge this year by over 30%.

While I realize that small increase may not make a big difference, if we all give a little more, then in the end we can continue to have Rev. Alisha at our pulpit twice a month, and hopefully we can expand her work with the church if all of our members can give enough support. Not everyone can give equally, but everyone can do their part to make sure we can continue to offer a spiritual safe space that recognizes the inherent worth and dignity of every person.

Warmest regards,
James Moore
Worship Committee Member

Greetings! We would like to refresh our sign-ups for the craft table for all ages. Please use the sign-up genius to sign up to either provide a craft that can be used or sit with those who want to craft and help.

As a reminder, this will be a table in the CJCN social hall that is just outside the sanctuary. Anyone who wants to wander and enjoy a craft while still in eye-site of a trusted adult is welcome at this table. Additions to the Team FUUN Cart that are fidgets, quiet games, no-prep/clean art kits, etc are also always appreciated.

Share-the-Plate

April’s share-the-plate offering is going to Trees for Houston, a nonprofit organization dedicated to planting, protecting and promoting trees in the greater Houston area since 1983. Now celebrating their 40th anniversary with over half a million trees planted, they grow, plant and maintain over 20,000 trees each year for a multitude of projects across the greater Houston region. They take requests from the public to plant trees wherever they may benefit the public, and will plant a tree to honor someone's memory or other special occasion. They maintain the trees for 2 years after planting them. Trees reduce air pollution, provide oxygen, reduce urban heat and home cooling bills by shading buildings and concrete. Trees provide food and habitat for wildlife. Trees reduce storm water runoff and slow erosion. Not least of all trees reduce stress and beautify our surroundings. Your donation allows Trees For Houston to plant and maintain vibrant, healthy neighborhoods throughout the Houston region.
